Drawing Carnivorous Plants (Online Workshop)

Mary Ellen Carsley, Artist Educator
Both beginners and experienced artists can explore the weird and wonderful world of carnivorous plants! Their unique botanical structures make carnivorous plants terrifyingly terrific drawing subjects. These ferocious drawing subjects provide a great opportunity to develop your artistic eye for detail, proportion, and balance.

In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of botanical drawing by working with line, shape, and value to create the illusion of form. We will demonstrate tricks for accurate visual measurement, revealing botanical anatomy, and creating balanced compositions. We will even take a peek at color basics! So, grab your pencils and sketchbook, and let’s spend the morning drawing fierce flora together.
