About the presenter

Heather Spence, Ph.D.
Biologist and composer Dr. Heather Spence merges science and music to engage communities in deep connection with nature. Heather’s work promotes creative, integrative, win-win approaches to seeming conflicts between humans and our environment. Over two decades, she has partnered with coastal stakeholders, establishing the first network of underwater listening stations in the MesoAmerican Reef system and developing methods for listening-based non-technical participatory science.
