Speaker Bio
Growing up, Abigail saw firsthand how multiflora rose has taken over forests near her home, forming dense, thorny thickets that have pushed out the native flowers she loves. That early exposure inspired her to learn more about how invasive species affect natural ecosystems and motivated her to pursue research aimed at better understanding and managing them. Learning to identify plants and understand their ecological roles was inspiring, and she continues exploring those connections through graduate research. Now she is studying how multiflora rose interacts and competes with native plants for pollinators. Outside of research, Abigail loves hiking, gardening, and taking nature photos—especially of wildflowers!
