Speaker Bio
Howard Peller’s personal aesthetic has always centered on his passion for objects made by hand, using materials closely tied to the environments in which they are made. This concept of “living and making” allows him to take inspiration from the nature that surrounds him and create products that both sustain him and the environment in which he is working. Howard is proud to craft, direct, design, and market handcrafted products for the tabletop, gift, and home décor marketplace for over 30 years.
His learning to weave willow traces a path involving international projects, apprenticeships, and workshops. Howard intensively studied weaving at the basket school located in Lichtenfels, Germany. From the willow groves at Living Willow Farm, where he grows 12 acres of willow featuring 85 unique species, Howard strives to offer a connection between the agrarian and the artisan in both finely crafted woven objects and living willow structures.
