Science Look-In: Winter Blooming Corpse Flower Research (Online Q&A)

Nate Braddock, USBG Gardener (Advanced)
Join us online for a behind-the-scenes real-time look at science at work on our first-ever winter-blooming corpse flower (Amorphophallus titanum). We’ll explore current research the USBG Horticulture team is performing about how various elements in the growing environment might affect blooms, the unique lifecycle stages of this endangered plant — from corm to colossal leaf to emerging bloom — and uncover the optimal conditions that make it all possible. We'll also share how botanic gardens and scientists around the world are collaborating to conserve this rare plant. Because this is a scheduled program, we may catch the flower at peak, just before it opens, or just after its dramatic moment… but either way, you’ll have a front-row seat to science at work.
